Remnants

——

Remnants is a series of works in which papers, fabrics and objects are layered and piled into various size bundles.

In this process of sedimentation, infinite elements are gathered to narrate infinite stories. The papers used are scraps (remnants) from previous works I made, old documents, pieces of book pages, stained fabrics and small objects collected over time. They are pieces of Beauty that have cumulated on my desk, inside my drawers, in my dyeing buckets, inside or outside.

These precious fragments are tightly bound by twine or string or wool thread and they belong together only.

‘Remnants’ refers both to the media used, and to the people whose stories are being told. The old ephemera, found objects and photographs that I use in this work are themselves the remnants of someone’s life and story which I strive to unearth and celebrate in my work.
