Abney Park

——

Place of nature and meditation, shelter from anxiety and noise, and peaceful haven of eternal dance between life and death.

Abney Park, in Stoke Newington (London) is a truly unique 17th century landmark that carries within itself so much mystery and beauty and romanticism. It is one of the "Magnificent Seven" cemeteries in London, England.

I try and visit the park everyday, and this book is about my daily appointments with marble and barks.

I had gathered a large number of photos of graves, angels and trees. I had also collected pieces of wood, leaves and stones. Some photos were printed on photographic paper, others directly on the book, handwritten reflections and printed words mix on pages that have been torn or burnt. The book is bound together between two pieces of bark found next to a fallen tree. This book is a diary and a map, which honours a place that is so much more than just a park.

20% of the sales of this book were donated to the Abney Park Trust.
